Kel + Al {Romantic Darling Maui Newlyweds at Makena Cove Beach}

Kel and Al came from California to get Maui’d and they asked me to come after the wedding to capture their first moments as newlyweds. They told me they were nervous for their so long waited Maui wedding photos. Al was especially worried he wasn’t going to look good because he wasn’t used to being in pictures. This is probably one of the most common concerns I hear, especially from grooms, but as this session shows, you really have nothing to worry about! As long as you’re happy and with the one you love, those feelings come out. I couldn’t even tell Kel and Al were nervous in front of the camera. They were so over the moon and in love, their inner models really shined through.

Karen + Kenny {Magically Intimate Upcountry Maui Wedding}

Karen + Kenny {Magically Intimate Upcountry Maui Wedding}

Karen and Kenny and very dear friends of mine, so this wedding is close to my heart. Since the moment we met and Karen saw my work, she told me the day she gets married, she wanted me to capture her happy ending. A couple of years passed by, and now they are about to leave for Portland after a long life here on Maui. They wanted to get hitched to have this lasting memory to treasure forever, so they called me and my heart was so full of joy for these two!

An amazing backyard wedding celebration was planned, and before the ceremony, we stopped by some meaningful places for them. Karen’s dad worked for many decades in the sugar company so she definitely wanted to have that as part of her pictures to honor her dad. Kenny and Karen often take walks on the beach with their beloved dog Seven, who is such a charm, so the beach had to be included also.

They say less is more, and it overwhelmed my heart how minimal yet so beautiful this ceremony was, they made each lei to perfection with natural elements from their ohana and it was just the perfect touch of magic for upcountry Maui. Kenny built the bench for their family to sit and be surrounded by the mystic mist and fog and the gorgeous view. I am so happy for them and couldn’t believe how precious the moment was for the intimate celebration.

Aimee + Glynn {Gorgeous and Whimsical Maui elopement in Ironwoods Beach Kapalua}

Glynn and Aimee are the sweetest couple with a rollercoaster of a wedding planning story. They originally had wedding plans for about 100 guests in Texas but that got overwhelming and expensive really fast, so an intimate wedding in Maui was decided on.

That’s when Aimee and I first started talking. She is such a warm, friendly person that we talked not only about wedding plans but about life in general and got close. A few months before their destination wedding, they flew out to Maui to look at venues and meet vendors in person… and ended up having an elopement, planned in just a few hours, right before that had to get back on the plane to leave!

They returned to Texas and surprised their daughters with the happy news. They came back to Maui for what was supposedly to be their wedding date, and we had lots of fun documenting the day. From getting ready to the first look, family photos, and of course romantic shots, it was a little bit of everything. Aimee and Glynn even asked if my son Miloh could be the ring bearer!

The great thing about the wedding being done is that everyone was so relaxed and there was only pure love, joy, and laughter that day. Aimee and I still talk regularly and she is hands down my biggest fan on Facebook. So happy for this beautiful family, honored that I got to be part of this special day, and grateful for our continued friendship
