trash the dress

Andie + Danny {Maui Beach Trash the Dress}

After Andie and Danny's super fun New Year's Day wedding on the north shore, we went to the south side to get wet. These two were already so laid back to begin with, now that the wedding was over, they were even more relaxed in total honeymoon bliss. We had such an amazing time cruising around in their Jeep, first going to Makena Cove and then over to Big Beach, where the water was absolutely crystal clear and perfect for jumping in.

Natalie + Levi {Epic Beautiful Maui Elopement}

Natalie and Levi had the best of both worlds - an elopement with just the two of them and then lots of pictures to make all their loved ones feel like they were there. They hired me for 5 hours because they wanted to make sure I captured each and every part of their amazing day. This extremely kind, humble Canadian couple also brought their own wedding planner from Canada, and it was a joint effort to make this the best day ever!

We did a first look at the Hotel Wailea where they got ready, then went over to Secret Beach for some lava rock and palm tropical scenery. Natalie was a fan of my faraway landscaping shots and wanted to showcase all the beautiful lushness of Maui.

The ceremony was at a bird sanctuary in Haiku set on a cliff with glorious ocean view landscape that was oh soooo stunning, the perfect place for them to say I Do's with birds flying all around them the entire ceremony while the sun was setting behind them. We ended the day with a romantic private dinner at Sugar Beach Events.

We met up the next day for a Day After session, where we played in the forest and Natalie got to show off another beautiful look.

Crisna + Brandon {Twin Falls Maui Newlywed Day After Session}

It’s true what they all say, your wedding day goes by so fast. This is also true for me as your photographer because I only have a limited time to get all the shots I need to. I often wish that I had more time to spend with the couple capturing all their passion and looks of love, but there are usually timelines and guests to consider.

I was overjoyed when Crisna and Brandon decided we should do a photo session the day after their gorgeous tropical wedding. It was so nice that they had their newlywed glow and were truly relaxed as any leftover wedding stress melted away. We were also able to get more use out of their cute burlap Wahine and Kane chair signs and flowers. Since it is Hawaii and flower crowns are always welcome, I recycled a bridesmaid's bouquet to make Crisna's crown and used the leftover flowers to make the petal shower in the waterfall. We only had one chance for this shot and I got to be both flower girl and photographer, throwing the petals with one hand while snapping the photo with my other hand!

To add variety to the photos from their oceanside wedding, we chose the romantic waterfall and forest setting of Twin Falls. This photo session had the spirit of a trash the dress session without actually harming Crisna’s wedding gown. I’m blessed to have been given extra time to spend with such a sweet, charming couple!
